Our Process
How We Build
A proven process refined over 14 years and 87+ projects. From the first conversation to the final walkthrough, every step is designed to keep your renovation on time, on budget, and exactly the way you envisioned it.
Six Steps. Zero Surprises.
Renovation shouldn't feel like a leap of faith. Our six-step process exists so you always know where your project stands, what comes next, and exactly how much it costs. We've refined this workflow across every project type — kitchens, bathrooms, whole-home renovations, and outdoor living spaces — and it works because it puts your clarity first.
Discovery & Consultation
Free · In-Home Visit
Everything starts with a conversation — at your kitchen table, on your back deck, wherever the project lives. We walk the space together, listen to what's working and what isn't, and take measurements and photos to understand the scope.
This isn't a sales pitch. It's a chance for us to understand your vision, your daily life in the space, and your goals. We'll talk about budget ranges honestly, share what's realistic for your timeline, and answer every question you have.
After the visit, you'll receive a follow-up summary within 48 hours with our initial thoughts, rough budget range, and recommended next steps. No pressure, no hard sell — just honest guidance.
Design & Planning
2-3 Weeks · Collaborative
This is where your renovation starts to take shape. Our design team creates detailed 3D renderings so you can see the finished space before a single nail is pulled. We explore materials, finishes, fixtures, and color palettes together — walking you through options that fit your style and budget.
We'll build a comprehensive project timeline, identify any structural or mechanical considerations, and coordinate with subcontractors for specialized work like electrical, plumbing, or HVAC. Everything gets documented in your project folder — accessible anytime.
Revisions are expected and welcome. Most clients go through 2-3 design iterations before landing on the plan that feels perfect. We don't rush this — getting the design right saves time and money during construction.
Proposal & Agreement
Detailed Scope · Transparent Pricing
You'll receive a detailed proposal that breaks down every aspect of your project — materials, labor, timeline, and cost. No vague estimates, no hidden fees, no line items that say "miscellaneous." You'll know exactly where every dollar goes.
We walk through the proposal together line by line. Questions are encouraged — we'd rather spend an extra hour clarifying the scope now than deal with a surprise later. Our payment schedule is milestone-based, meaning you pay as work gets completed and inspected.
Once we're aligned, we sign a straightforward agreement that protects both sides. It spells out scope, schedule, payment terms, change-order process, and warranty coverage. Clear expectations from day one.
Pre-Construction
1-3 Weeks · Behind the Scenes
Before the first hammer swings, we handle all the groundwork. This means pulling permits with Gallatin County or your local jurisdiction, ordering materials so they arrive on schedule, and coordinating subcontractor availability. In Montana, permit timelines vary — we know the process inside and out.
Your project manager sets up the construction schedule, arranges site protection for the areas of your home that aren't being renovated, and organizes material staging so deliveries don't disrupt your daily routine more than necessary.
You'll receive a detailed start-day checklist with everything you need to prepare — where to park, what to move, and how to reach us during construction. By the time demo day arrives, everyone knows the plan.
Construction
4-16 Weeks · The Main Event
This is where the transformation happens. Your dedicated project manager is on-site daily, coordinating the crew, managing the schedule, and making sure every detail aligns with the approved design. Work proceeds in a logical sequence — demolition, structural, rough-in, finishes — with quality checkpoints at each stage.
You'll receive weekly photo updates every Friday with a progress summary, upcoming milestones, and any decisions needed from you. Most decisions we handle autonomously within the agreed scope — we only bring you in when there's a genuine choice to make.
If something unexpected comes up — and in renovation, it sometimes does — we'll call you immediately with options, costs, and our recommendation. No changes happen without your written approval and a clear understanding of what it means for the timeline and budget.
Final Walkthrough & Handoff
The Finish Line · Celebration
When construction wraps, we do a thorough cleaning of the entire project area and schedule a final walkthrough with you. This is your chance to inspect every surface, every fixture, every finish. We walk through with a punch list in hand, noting anything that needs adjustment — even the smallest details.
Any punch-list items are resolved within 5-7 business days. Once everything meets your approval, we hand over your complete project binder: final drawings, material specs, warranty documentation for every product, and maintenance guides for all finishes and fixtures.
Your renovation is backed by our 2-year craftsmanship warranty on all labor, plus manufacturer warranties on materials and equipment. We'll check in at 6 months and 12 months to make sure everything is performing beautifully. And yes — we bring champagne to the final walkthrough. You earned it.
