Our Philosophy

Why We Write

Renovation is one of the largest investments a homeowner will make, and we believe informed clients make the best decisions. The Journal exists to share what we have learned over 13 years and 87 projects — the unvarnished truth about materials, timelines, costs, and trade-offs.

We do not write to sell. We write because we have seen the same questions come up hundreds of times, and the internet is full of generic answers that do not account for Montana's climate, building codes, or material availability. These articles are specific to our valley, our builds, and the real-world conditions our clients face.

If something we write saves you a costly mistake — even if you never hire us — then the article did its job.
