Our Story
Built on Craftsmanship,
Driven by Vision
What started as two people with a shared love of honest construction has grown into southwest Montana's most trusted renovation team. We believe every home has a story worth telling — and every renovation should honor the landscape it sits in.
Founded in 2012
From Small Repairs to
Mountain Modern Masterworks
Jake and Sarah Mitchell moved to Bozeman in 2010, drawn by the Gallatin Valley's wild beauty and the kind of community that still waves at neighbors. Jake had spent a decade framing houses in Colorado. Sarah had built a career in interior design in Portland. They came for the mountains — and stayed to build something of their own.
Ridgeline Renovations started in 2012 with a borrowed truck, a garage full of tools, and a simple belief: renovation should feel like collaboration, not chaos. Their first project was a 1970s ranch kitchen on Bozeman's north side. Word spread. By year three, they had a crew of six and a reputation for showing up on time, communicating clearly, and delivering work that lasted.
Fourteen years and 87 projects later, that same ethos drives every decision. We've grown from that garage into three locations across southwest Montana, but the core hasn't changed — listen first, build with intention, leave every home better than we found it. The mountains taught us to respect what's already here. We just make it shine.

What We Stand For
Values That Shape Every Project
Craftsmanship
Every joint, every finish, every detail matters. We take pride in work that stands the test of time — and Montana winters. No shortcuts, no compromises.
Transparency
You'll never wonder where your budget went or when your project wraps. Weekly updates, detailed scopes, and honest conversations from day one to final walkthrough.
Sustainability
We live here, too. Energy-efficient materials, responsible sourcing, and designs that reduce waste — because building well means building responsibly.
Community
From sponsoring Bozeman youth sports to donating labor for Habitat for Humanity builds, we believe in giving back to the valley that gave us everything.
Meet the Crew
The People Behind the Work
Every member of our team brings deep expertise and genuine care to your project. We're not a franchise — we're a family of craftspeople who chose this valley and this work.
Jake Mitchell
Co-founder & Lead Contractor
Jake brings over two decades of hands-on construction experience to every project. A Colorado native who fell in love with Montana's building challenges, he oversees all construction operations and quality control. When he's not on-site, you'll find him fly-fishing the Gallatin or teaching his kids to ski.
Sarah Mitchell
Co-founder & Design Director
With a degree in interior architecture from the University of Oregon and ten years of design experience in Portland, Sarah shapes the aesthetic vision for every renovation. She specializes in blending mountain modern sensibility with each homeowner's personal style — creating spaces that feel both elevated and entirely like home.
Tom Keller
Senior Project Manager
Tom is the person who makes sure your renovation stays on schedule and on budget. With 15 years of project management experience and a Bozeman native's understanding of local permitting, he's the calm, organized voice you'll hear most during your project. He sends the weekly updates you'll actually look forward to reading.
Maria Santos
Interior Designer
Maria joined Ridgeline in 2018 after working with high-end residential firms in Denver. She has an eye for materials that feel luxurious without being precious — the kind of surfaces that welcome muddy boots and morning coffee alike. Her 3D renderings help clients see their finished space before the first wall comes down.
Dave Larson
Master Carpenter
Dave's been building in Montana for over 25 years. He's the person responsible for the custom cabinetry, built-ins, and finish carpentry that make a Ridgeline renovation feel unmistakably handcrafted. His work with reclaimed timber from local barns has become one of the team's signature touches.
Emily Chen
Client Relations
Emily is your first point of contact and the person who makes the entire experience feel seamless. From scheduling your initial consultation to coordinating your final walkthrough celebration, she keeps communication flowing and questions answered — usually before you even think to ask them.
