What I Do

Five kinds of
photographs, made slowly.

I take on a small number of sessions each season. If one of these sounds right — or if it doesn’t, and you’d like to invent a different one with me — please write.

Portrait Sessions

A two-hour session in your home, your garden, or a place that has always made you feel like yourself. For individuals, families, new parents, old friends. I shoot slowly and deliver forty hand-edited images inside four weeks.

Most of my portrait work happens in Asheville, Black Mountain, Weaverville, and along the French Broad. Travel within North Carolina is welcomed at no additional cost.

Wedding Photography

I photograph weddings without a shot list. No posed family lineups unless you want them, no awkward first-look choreography, no staged getting-ready. I arrive four hours before the ceremony and stay until you ask me to stop.

I take on a small number of weddings each year — usually between four and eight — so every one gets my full attention. Private homes, heritage estates, barns, and back gardens across the Blue Ridge.

Editorial & Commercial

Magazine portraits, lifestyle features, cover shoots, food and hospitality editorials. I’ve worked with Kinfolk, Garden & Gun, The Bitter Southerner, Cereal, and a handful of small Southern magazines who pay with respect and a copy of the issue.

Half-day and full-day rates on request. Usage rights, licensing, and travel quoted per assignment. I maintain my own lighting and digital capture workflow for on-location shoots.

$2,200 / day

Half & full day

Brand & Product

Lookbooks, catalogs, and brand stills for small studios, ceramicists, makers, and boutique home goods. I shoot in daylight wherever possible. If your product wants to be photographed like a small sculpture, I will photograph it like a small sculpture.

Half-day and full-day packages include on-set styling, hand-editing, and final delivery in the formats your art director actually uses. Studio or on-location.

Fine Art Prints

A rotating edition of personal landscape, still life, and portrait work printed in small runs on cotton rag. Shipped flat and signed. Editions are numbered and retire when the run is finished.

Most prints are sized 11×14, 16×20, or 24×30 inches. Write if you’d like to see the current edition list — I keep the catalog quiet on purpose.

Starting At

$180

Signed editions

If you’re hoping for something that isn’t on this page, please ask anyway. Most of my favorite sessions started as an email that began with “this is a strange request”.
