From Fieldstone Walls to 400+ Projects
Marcus Carver grew up watching his grandfather lay fieldstone walls across central North Carolina—no laser levels, no concrete saws, just a practiced eye and unshakable patience. That craftsmanship left a mark.
After earning a landscape architecture degree from NC State and spending six years managing projects for a large commercial firm, Marcus realized he wanted to build the kind of outdoor spaces people actually live in—not corporate plazas, but backyards where families make memories.
In 2014, with $18,000 and a used F-250, he launched Ironbark Outdoor out of his garage in Cary. The name comes from the ironbark eucalyptus—one of the densest, most durable hardwoods on earth. It felt right for a company built on the idea that great work should outlast the seasons.
Today, Ironbark employs a crew of 14 and has completed over 400 residential projects across the Triangle. Marcus still walks every job site, still hand-selects stone, and still doesn't start before noon on Saturdays—his daughter Wren has T-ball.
“We believe your outdoor space should feel like the best room in your house—designed with intention, built with integrity, and made to last.”
Craftsmanship First
Every joint, every cut, every grade is done right the first time. We don't take shortcuts because shortcuts come back to haunt you in year two.
Honest Communication
You'll know the real timeline, the real cost, and the real options. We'd rather lose a project than oversell one.
Built to Last
We spec materials and methods for decades, not seasons. Proper base prep, correct drainage, and products rated for North Carolina weather.
Community Roots
We live where we work. Our crews are local, our suppliers are regional, and our reputation is built one neighborhood at a time.
Serving the Triangle
We're proud to serve homeowners across the Raleigh-Durham metro. If you're in one of these communities, we'd love to talk.
