The Story
The brief was clear: create a sanctuary that celebrates the panoramic harbor views from every vantage point. Our clients, a couple relocating from Manhattan, wanted their new penthouse to feel both sophisticated and serene — a counterpoint to the city energy they were leaving behind.
We began with the light. Floor-to-ceiling glazing wraps three sides of the unit, flooding it with the shifting hues of harbor sky and water. Rather than compete with those views, we designed the interior as a calm frame: a restrained palette of warm whites, pale oak, and soft grays, punctuated by moments of brushed bronze and Italian linen.
The open-plan living and dining area flows seamlessly toward a chef's kitchen anchored by a monolithic concrete island. We commissioned a local ceramicist to create the backsplash tiles — each one bearing the subtle impression of marsh grass found along the shoreline below. It's a detail most visitors never consciously notice, but it roots the space in its place.
The master suite faces east for sunrise views over the harbor. A custom floating bed platform in white oak, backed by floor-to-ceiling Belgian linen curtains, creates the feeling of waking up inside the sky. The ensuite bath is a study in restraint: honed porcelain slabs, a frameless glass shower, and a sculptural freestanding tub positioned beneath a skylight.

“We came from a Manhattan apartment and were worried nothing would feel as sophisticated. Margot proved us wrong — our penthouse feels more refined than anything we've ever lived in, and every morning starts with that view.”
